SPRING 2009 TEAM DESCRIPTION AND INFORMATION
U-9/U-11 Ravens - The U-9/U-11 age group is developmental in that players will learn the rules of the sport, catching, throwing, the different positions, sportsmanship, and participate in some scrimmages. Competing within the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL) is introduced. The U-9/U-11 age group is open to all skill levels from experienced players to new players. In the U11-B and C age groups, there are stick checks but no body checks. In the U-11 A division, both stick checks and full body contact are allowed. SCLC must field three U-11 teams in order to have a U-11A team.
U-13 Ravens - The U-13 age group will learn the rules of the sport, catching, throwing, basic positional skills, sportsmanship, and participate in scrimmages. Competing within the NVYLL is more of a focus. The U-13 age group is open to all skill levels; from experienced players to new players. Stick checks and full body contact are allowed regardless of A, B, or C designation.
U-15 Ravens- The U-15 age group will learn the rules of the sport, catching, throwing, position-specific skills, sportsmanship, and more advanced team skills with a focus on competing in the NVYLL. The U15 age group is open to all skill levels from experienced players to new players. Stick checks and full body contact are allowed regardless of A, B, or C designation.
High School Ravens– As a club team, SCLC High School team is not affiliated with any particular Spotsylvania County high school. Players from around the Spotsylvania region make up the SCLC High School Team. In 2009, the SCLC High School team had players from Courtland, Riverbend, Massaponax, Chancellor, and Spotsylvania High Schools. The High School players will learn the rules of the sport, catching, throwing, the different positions, sportsmanship, and play at a competitive level with other high school teams at the Varsity and Junior Varsity level from the Fredericksburg and Richmond metropolitan areas.
