SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY LACROSSE CLUB POLICIES
1. SCLC is a co-ed club. Each player shall participate in every game a minimum of 25% of the game. Coaches found guilty by the SCLC President for not complying with this policy will be brought before the full Board of Directors for possible disciplinary action.
2. For youth teams participating in the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL), teams shall be based on the following age definitions: U-15 Ravens – Under 15; U-13 Ravens – Under 13; U-11 Ravens – Under 11; and U-9 Ravens – Under 9. Ages shall be determined as of December 31, 2009 for the Spring 2010 season and as of December 31st in the year preceding future seasons. Players in high school (9th-12th grade) may play in the high school program. Players that are in the 9th grade, have not participated in a high school lacrosse program, and who are otherwise eligible to play on the U-15 team shall be permitted to play on a U-15 team. SCLC may require players to provide valid proof of age to the club or NVYLLat any time during the season. Valid proof of age is limited to birth certificate, DMV youth ID card, current passport, or military dependent ID. Each player’s parent/guardian must acknowledge and agree to as part of the club’s registration process that the birth date provided for his/her son/daughter is correct and that incorrect age may lead to suspension from participating in SCLC activity.
3. Youth Boys teams will be divided into A, B, and C levels at the U-15, U-13 and U-11 divisions and into “Full Field” and “Modified Field” levels at U-9. Girls divisions will be divided into A and B levels at the U-15, U-13 and U-11 divisions and a B level only at U-9.
4. There shall be a maximum of 24 and a minimum of 16 players listed on a youth team roster except by approval of the SCLC Board of Directors. There is no limit to the number of players on the high school team. If SCLC has multiple youth teams within the same age group/division, the teams will have the same number of players plus or minus 2 per team. Any U-9B boys team and U-9 girls team shall have a maximum of 18 and a minimum of 12 players listed on the team roster.
5. To ensure SCLC coaching staffs are knowledgable and qualified to teach youth sports, all coaches (head and assistant) must:
- Complete the US Lacrosse Coaches Education Program – Level One Online Course to qualify them in the rules of the game, coaching fundamental techniques, player safety, care of injuries, and leadership of children and young people.
- Complete the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Online Course or attend a PCA workshop annually.
- Undergo a U.S. Lacrosse-approved criminal background investigation.
6. The SCLC maintains liability insurance for the corporation and its officers. Because U.S. Lacrosse membership is mandatory for all players, all players are covered under U.S. Lacrosse liability and accident insurance. The League shall obtain coverage and make it available to all participants. The SCLC Board recommends that all players a receive physical examination before participating in lacrosse practice and/or games within three months of the start of the season. No player shall be allowed to participate in the SCLC games if a physician recommends non-play.
7. The SCLC Board of Directors, in keeping with the existing policies of the NVYLL, has adopted the Virginia High School League (VHSL), "Infectious Disease Policy" for all participants. A copy of this policy as issued by the VHSL in 1992, is attached as a separate policy to these rules. For girls, the "Blood on Uniforms, Skin, Equipment Surfaces" policy is adopted, as printed in the U.S. Lacrosse Womens' Rules.
