Welcome to the 2010 spring lacrosse season.  I know that you are awaiting word on when we can take the field, so let me provide the latest update.

For obvious weather-related reasons, the county has prohibited all youth sports programs (lacrosse, baseball, soccer, etc.) from practicing on the fields.  I have been advised that personnel from the Spotsylvania County Parks and Rec. will assess the condition of the fields on March 6, 2010.  At that time, they will make a determination as to when youth sports practices may begin on the fields.

At this point, we seem to be in no worse condition than any other lacrosse program in our region.  This past Sunday, we were in attandance at the commissioner's meeting for NVYLL.  A motion was made (and voted down)  to commence the game schedule after the Easter holiday.  The reason put forth for this motion was an inability to practice on the fields.  This motion was supported by many of our opponents (many of whom do not have access to an indoor facilty such as the Fredericksburg Field House.

With some luck, we may be able to launch sometime next week.  We will keep you posted on any news.  Thanks for being patient.

New and Experienced Lacrosse Players Wanted!!!
by posted 02/26/2010

Ravens,
Spotsy Lacrosse reached a milestone this week with its submission of both youth U-9 and U-11 teams for the 2010 spring.  Spotsy will have youth teams at the U-9B, U-11B, U-13B, and U-15B levels.  The Ravens definitely need more players to fill out their teams and we could sure use your help recruiting more players.  If we get enough players at the high school level, we will establish a JV team.

Registration will be open through late March, so there is plenty of time to join the Ravens.  For our players who have played before, please ask your friends who may be interested in playing the best sport around.  Let them know that no experience is required and that we encourage new players to join.  For our players and families new to the Spotsy family, tell your friends that they should try lacrosse with you.  We have quite a few hockey families who have joined us recently.  Tell the other hockey families that lacrosse is just like hockey without the ice.  Speaking of other sports, this is the off season for football leagues.  So let's help keep football players in shape with the great conditioning associated with lacrosse.  And who hasn't seen soccer players watching lacrosse practice with interest.  Let's approach them and offer a great spring season alternative.  Parents, be sure to tell your fellow parents that Spotsy Lacrosse can provide financial assistance if that is a concern.
